Getting a Restoration Hardware grey finish with ease….Eco Wood treatment

The blogging world has been inundated with the color grey.

Dark grey. Light grey.  Weathered grey.

Annie Sloan chalk paint is wonderful. I’ve used it on pretty much everything inside and outside the house.  It holds up extremely well.  In fact, the outdoor pieces have endured several heavy rain storms and the patina continues to weather without damage to the wood.

BUT have I got something even easier and GREENER for you.

Eco Wood Treatment package (ignore the writing. this box only has 1/2 the powder left, thus the 1/2 gal mixing instruction)

Eco Wood Treatment.

My painter friend works on very exclusive, high-end estates in Montecito, Utah, Santa Monica and Newport Beach.  He introduced me to this product that hails from Canada.

You buy the powder, mix it with water and apply to raw wood.  It’s that easy.  It automatically begins to grey the wood, and over time, the wood continues to age and get a luxurious patina.  Oh, I forgot to mention that this stuff protects the wood, too.  And no need to ever re-stain.  Once and done.

The best part is that Eco Wood Treatment is eco friendly, is non toxic, and doesn’t stain anything but wood.  No need for drop cloths, masking, etc.  Just apply.  We used a sprayer for the arbors around the house and the stucco wasn’t affected at all.  I’ve also used a brush and foam brush for applications.

Eco Wood Treatment on the ole Costco playhouse which once was stained in honey. Took a good sun beating this summer. I simply brushed some Eco Wood and now it looks like an old cabin.

Each package is about US$18 and generates a gallon of stain.  We used 2.5 gallons to stain all three of our arbors, the playhouse, and 6 raised planters.  One application.  Ever.

Go get it!

p.s. I don’t know the owners of Eco Wood Treatment.  Never met ‘em.  Not gettin’ paid for this.  Just happy to share a HUGE find.  :)

p.p.s.  eco wood treatment and this picture have inspired my next project…the kids’ loft…stay tuned!

That looks pretty good. I said I wasn’t going to try to weather any wood again, but I might just have to try that, especially if you don’t have to clean it off afterward. It looks really good on everything you did.

Did you have a chance to try it yet? It’s so awesome and is still holding up great on everything I treated. How about you?

    btw. I love your playhouse.

what type of wood are your raised planters?

    • imeeshu

The raised planters are redwood with Eco Wood Treatment applied. Eco Wood is all natural and instantly gives the wood a Restoration Hardware-like finish. Protects the woods and continues to patina over time. We’re loving the raised beds!  meesh pierce c: 949-885-6108

I am refinishing a pine farm table and would love to use this… have you tried it on anything for indoor use?

    • imeeshu

Yes you can definitely use it indoors as it has no odor and is all-natural (according to the packaging). Be sure to sand the wood down to some fresh wood so that the Eco-Wood can react. Good luck and let me know how it goes!!
